Manufacturer:   Panasonic
Model: AG-HVX200
Short Description: HD Camcorder with P2 Card
Why was it needed and what did it replace: Because we were starting a project which required HD. We really wanted the new HVX2100 but shooting had to commence. So while awiting for the 2100 we decided to buy this in the interim. At least we could start shooting. I guess it replaced an HVR-Z1E fro

What other systems did you consider? : There was nothing else we wanted. We looked at all it’s competitors but none were considered. Except of course the new P2 model due out imminently.
Why did you choose it?: We went the P2 route because we wanted to go HD and were not happy enough with the other manufacturers products. It seems that this is by far the best value for money HD product available
Did you buy new or used - if new did you consider used / visa versa? : New. Because there are no used items on the market. We have always bought new because we then know its history. We would consider used if we can check provinence and have our preferred supplier check it over.
Who did you buy it from (direct from manufacturer or through a dealer)?: We bought from a dealer. Top-Teks.
What price did you pay?: That's a secret between me and top teks but it was a good price!
Were you happy with the sales service?: Yes. I've dealt with Top-Teks for a few years now and it doesn't matter if you buy 1 camera or 10, you get the same sales service and support.
What major projects have you used it (or plan to use it) for?: Currently using it on new BBC documentary. No working title as yet but filming had to start quickly hence the choice to go with it. As we do a lot of documentary filming its versatility is why we chose it.
Does it perform as expected?: We've put the pictures on our 42" HD screen and the pictures are fantastic. The pictures just blew us away!
Pro's: Light weight, amazing pictures, easy to use, excellent value. A cameraman’s camera and safe to use, it won’t lead you in to trouble as some can.
Con's: The menu system situated under the handle. Irritating only because it is not easy to operate.
What would your brief summary be on this product?: First class camera, at a great price with amazing results.
