What other systems did you consider? :

At the time it was mainly hi end manufacturers such as Tektronix and Leader with extremely capable products that were first to market with dedicated systems, often too feature rich for our purposes.

Why did you choose it?:
|

Mainly, to be honest, budget and recommendation. The chap from OmniTek came over to give an onsite demo and the also offered the option to trial the system for a week - this convinced us of its capability and suitability for the use we intended it for.

Did you buy new or used - if new did you consider used / visa versa? :

A year or so ago used equipment tended to be restricted to established standards derived from 24 fpm and 60Hz/30fpm based rates. The ability to evaluate progressive and interlaced HD at 50 Hz/25fpm was a concern. So this pushed us to look at new and upgra

The pre sales were good, as you would hopefully expect especially with the loan of a system to ensure it met our needs.
After sales support though has been exceptional; we had stumbled across a software bug when analysing 720p and without hesitation a

What major projects have you used it (or plan to use it) for?:

We developed a SD/HD cross converter and also the OmniTek is in every day use in the workshop when testing new products shipped to us from the USA before onward shipping to European customers

Does it perform as expected?:

The system we have allows us to expand the system to incorporate a test pattern generator in the future. If the need permitted then we would certainly buy another for our service department

Currently the unit is unable to view eye pattern or measure jitter.
If we were to upgrade the system with the test pattern generator, then we could not generate test patterns at a different frame rate to those that you wish to measure without purchasin
