Harris Corporation Continues to Win Saudi Television Contracts |

Harris Corporation has been awarded several additional contracts by the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Culture and Information (MOCI) for products spanning its high-definition (HD) portfolio.
Recent wins include the provision of equipment for eight new HD studios, three new portable HD studios, two new digital satellite news gathering/outside broadcast (DSNG/OB) vans and three new HD OB vans. These contract wins follow successful Harris high-definition equipment installations at seven Saudi TV studio control rooms in the cities of Qassim, Riyadh, Dammam, Medinah and Makhah in 2007 and 2008.

Vinten Radamec debuts the Fusion FP-188VR at NAB |

Vinten Radamec®, a Vitec Group brand, debuts a Virtual Reality enabled version of its market leading robotic and manual pedestal at NAB 2010 (12-15 April, Las Vegas Convention Center).
The Fusion FP-188VR supports today’s studio camera packages on Fusion heads and has the ability to send precise positioning data for use with VR sets. Designed for automated studio operation the robotic pedestal senses its location on the floor from a small, L-shaped floor target which is unobtrusive and works with any floor surface. With over 700 installations worldwide, the new product will boost Vinten Radamec’s current offering.
Also showing is the LCS Legislative Control System which is now shipping for use with the Radamec 431 and Autocam HS-102 heads, as well as cost effective robotic solutions for small studios.
Technology demonstrations on the NAB exhibition floor will be incorporated into a dedicated VR set, showing Vinten Radamec products working live with software from leading graphics providers including Brainstorm and Orad.
Vinten Radamec will also demonstrate its control systems for production systems. For the newsroom environment it will show its ability to control third party products, such as Telemetrics tracking solutions and external cameras such as the Canon weatherproof head. This further demonstrates Vinten Radamec’s ability to offer an unrivalled and complete solution to global broadcasters, whatever the requirements.

ERTT ADOPTS FOR-A VIRTUAL STUDIO |

FOR-A UK has supplied its digiStorm virtual studio technology and multiviewers to Thomson for installation at the Tunisian national broadcaster, ERTT in Tunis. As a part of a turnkey project by Thomson Grass Valley France SA, the virtual studio has been integrated with a Thomson vision mixer and Shotoku camera position sensors.
This digiStorm virtual studio system was configured to meet ERTT’s requirements that included working with the studio’s four cameras, and their associated motion sensors, using a dual-channel virtual set processor and two workstations to provide both programme and preview video of the virtual set for any two of the four cameras at one time. The two workstations run Brainstorm Multimedia’s eStudio 3D Graphics software, making a full ‘eStudio': one creation-and-play workstation and one play-only station. SADiE equipment in the shape of the LRX2 location recorder and the PCM-H64 multi-channel recorder/editor has been at the forefront of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s recent recordings at The Falls Festival.
Held annually in two locations over the New Year period, The Falls Festival is one of Australia’s biggest music events and this year featured artists as diverse as Wolfmother, Seasick Steve, DJ Yoda, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Moby.
