PANASONIC ANNOUNCES AJ-HPX3100 P2 HD CAMCORDER

hpx3100 Panasonic will launch the AJ-HPX3100, a compact shoulder mounted HD camcorder featuring P2 solid-state memory card recording, in October 2010.

 
The AJ-HPX3100 offers high image quality and performance for high-end video production, incorporating a 2.2 megapixel, 2/3, type CCD image sensor (3CCD) and the latest AVC-Intra Codec for broadcasting (compatible with MPEG-4 AVC/H.264).
 
The camcorder supports multi-format HD capability as well as SD, DVCPRO50, DVCPRO and DV recording. The AVC-Intra 100 codec records high-quality images using 10 bit/4:2:2 sampling and also supports high-quality 24 bit audio recording whilst in AVC-Intra mode. The camera also offers a Chromatic Aberration Compensation (CAC) function to compensate variations in the lens and Dynamic Range Stretch (DRS) which suppresses blocked shadows and blown highlights.
 
The AJ-HPX3100 offers a number of improvements over its predecessor; a newly designed compact and lightweight body provides a low centre of gravity ensuring an unobstructed view for the camera operator. It is 3.9kg (8.6 lb) lighter than the previous model, offering the camera person enhanced mobility. The camera also consumes around 23% less power than conventional 2/3 3CCD camcorders.
 
The camcorder has two easily accessible slots for reusable P2 solid-state memory cards which offer up to 64 GB capacity and a high data transfer speed. The new camera also includes a range of functionality to improve workflow including wireless metadata input capability and a new video encoder board capable of proxy recording supporting Apple’s Final Cut Pro editing system.
 
The AJ-HPX3100G will be showcased at the BIRTV 2010 exhibition in Beijing, China between August 23 to 26 and will also be on the Panasonic stand #11.E60 at IBC from September 10th.

New Lens adaptors for the Sony NEX-VG10

Following a meeting at the Sony UK head office, we can reveal photos of the much awaited NEX-VG10 together with the MTF Nikon G and PL adaptors

Bill Drummond, the Sony European product manager was excited to see for himself MTFs new products designed for the NEX range.

Both the camera, together with our Nikon and PL adaptors will be with Sony at IBC and Photokina.

These MTF lens adaptors will be shipping around the end of September, prices to be announced soon

New Sony E Mount adaptors from MTF

sony lens mount With the introduction of the Sony NEX stills cameras, and NEX-VG10 camcorder later this year, we have started work on some new products to suit.
We are pleased to announce that the first of these are Worlds first PL to E mount and Nikon G to E mount adaptors.
 
As ever with all MTF products, these  are designed and manufactured in the UK  with extreme precision using HE30 aluminium and our own stainless steel E mount.
Also coming soon from MTF is a modular tripod or handheld support system specifically designed for these E mount and also for our Micro 4/3 lens adaptors.
Both of these new products together with other lens adaptors will be on the Sony stand at IBC and Photokina.

Sony Creative Software Unveils New Tools for 3D Blu-ray Disc Production and Video Editing

Sony Creative Software, a leading provider of professional video and audio editing applications, today announced Blu-print 6™ Blu-ray Disc authoring application and the brand-new Z Depth™ 3D subtitle offset editing application. As one of the first professional 3D Blu-ray™ Disc authoring products available on the market, the upgraded Blu-print 6 will be capable of authoring 3D titles in accordance with the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) 3D Blu-ray disc specification to greatly enhance workflow capability for production facilities and professional video editors. Blu-print 6 allows for easy import of MVC encoded content along with support of 3D menu graphics and subtitle graphics. 3D Blu-ray Java integration also allows for user interactivity like BD-Live. To assist editors creating 3D subtitles, the new Z Depth application generates the required offset metadata file needed in a 3D BD project allowing editors to more accurately and easily position subtitles when creating 3D Blu-ray Discs.
 
"With the home entertainment industry, consumer electronics manufacturers and consumers eagerly awaiting the introduction of 3D on Blu-ray, Blu-print 6 and Z Depth 3D subtitle offset editing application will enable editors and disc authoring professionals to provide a seamless 3D viewing experience for home audiences," said Dave Chaimson, vice-president of global marketing for Sony Creative Software. "Given the precise balance of art and technology needed to produce 3D Blu-ray Discs, production professionals require powerful and specialized new tools like Blu-print 6 and Z Depth for Vegas Pro 9 to deliver content that exceeds the high expectations accompanying the excitement for 3D at home."
 
Blu-print 6
 
As one of the first professional-level 3D Blu-ray disc authoring software systems available, the new features of Blu-print 6 will allow studios to author 3D content for the new 3D Blu-ray format standard Profile 5, import new MVC encoded streams, and work with Z Depth for 3D subtitle authoring. Designed for high volume professional production, the updated Blu-print 6 software will also include support for offset metadata integration required for 3D Presentation Graphics and 3D Interactive Graphics. 3D BD-J integration and 3D Blu-ray Disc cutting master generation is also supported in order to provide maximum intuition and flexibility for complex authoring projects.
 
Z Depth Feature Highlights
 
The all-new Z Depth subtitle offset editing application uses the video power of Vegas Pro 9 to provide a combination that will allow 3D authoring companies to easily create required disparity metadata files for positioning of subtitles and IG menus in a 3D Blu-ray Disc production. New to 3D BD production, the Z Depth application will allow 3D Blu-ray Disc authoring facilities and subtitle creation companies to produce accurate subtitling in the 3D space that will allow for the most comfortable viewing experience. The BD spec offset metadata files created by the application can be used in any 3D Blu-ray Disc authoring application that follows BDA specifications Profile 5. There are no special hardware requirements for Z Depth, though it is highly recommended that editors use the Presonus Fader Port for data input. Vegas Pro 9 is required for Z Depth integration.
