Compact SDI to 1394 Video Field Converter Launched

EDIROL have announced the VC-50HD - an innovative portable bidirectional SDI to 1394 video field converter.

The VC-50HD provides bi-directional conversion between SD/HD-SDI to/from DV, HDV as well as 35Mbps and 50Mbps MPEG-2 transport stream (TS). The unit also supports lower bit rates including 8Mbps as well as 2, 9 and 12Mbps when using with SD sources ideal for DVD, web or fixed-point observation applications.

The VC-50HD can be used standalone between video decks and PC/Macs or mounted on the back of the EDIROL F-1 Video Field Recorder for file-based capture from SDI cameras.

The VC-50HD offers flexible monitoring of the signal in the field using the HDMI output connected to an affordable display. Resolution types, MPEG-2 bit-rates, direction and SDI audio channel selection can be controlled with remote software via USB or dipswitches conveniently located on side of the unit.

Montclair State University Purchases Solid State Logic C10 HD Digital Broadcast Console

Montclair State University has purchased a 24-channel C10 HD Digital Broadcast Console for the recently upgraded DuMont Television Center. The C10 HD will complete the university’s move into a full HD production studio for advanced course work.
 
The DuMont Television Center’s HD suite is a place where students can work with the very latest in digital, high definition production equipment. The purchase of the SSL C10 HD console for the new control room, which is under construction, will complete the audio phase of the facility upgrade. With the introduction of the C10 HD at an attractive price point, the department can now install an SSL console to train students on the very latest audio engineering technology available. Beyond course work, the C10 HD will be used for campus projects and outside clients from the New Jersey and New York television production communities.

Vinten Radamec debuts the Fusion FP-188VR at NAB

Vinten Radamec®, a Vitec Group brand, debuts a Virtual Reality enabled version of its market leading robotic and manual pedestal at NAB 2010 (12-15 April, Las Vegas Convention Center).
 
The Fusion FP-188VR supports today’s studio camera packages on Fusion heads and has the ability to send precise positioning data for use with VR sets. Designed for automated studio operation the robotic pedestal senses its location on the floor from a small, L-shaped floor target which is unobtrusive and works with any floor surface.  With over 700 installations worldwide, the new product will boost Vinten Radamec’s current offering.
 
Also showing is the LCS Legislative Control System which is now shipping for use with the Radamec 431 and Autocam HS-102 heads, as well as cost effective robotic solutions for small studios.
 
Technology demonstrations on the NAB exhibition floor will be incorporated into a dedicated VR set, showing Vinten Radamec products working live with software from leading graphics providers including Brainstorm and Orad. 
 
Vinten Radamec will also demonstrate its control systems for production systems. Digital Solutions Adds BVE02-PV for Single-Operator News Studios

In these days of tightened budgets and reduced resources, Broadcasters are forced to look for ways to trim costs. For those Broadcasters operating News Studios, the BVE02-PV offers an elegant and simple solution for reducing two pairs of hands to one.
 
The BVE02-PV adds two essential features to standard ESAM control for Yamaha 02R96, DM1000 and DM2000 mixers; audio preview of next-up sources and multiple concurrent sources on the program bus, when connected to an appropriately enabled vision switcher such as the Snell Kahuna.
There is an option for adding a compact fader control unit that can be installed immediately adjacent to the vision switcher allowing both audio and video to be effectively managed from the one operator’s position. This facility makes the BVE02-PV ideal for single-operator galleries where one person can be in charge of both vision and audio mixing.
 
Audio preview presents the faders for the next-up source on the remote panel and dedicated faders of the mixer, where the levels can be adjusted while that source is heard through the monitoring system. These adjusted levels are automatically applied to the source’s faders when they are opened to the program bus.
