When MTV Networks International set out a three year programme for a technology upgrade at its Camden Town HQ, Senior Systems Engineer Rob Cranfield knew that the front end monitoring would represent the final phase.
The Master Control Room (MCR) and equipment hub have now been completely overhauled, the former old-technology CRT displays making way for a Christie solution.

British cameraman Mark Moreve shot the entire 90-minute feature film ‘Love Loss’ with the compact Canon EOS 5D Mk II DSLR camera and the fluid head Video 18 SB from Sachtler, a brand of the Vitec Group.
“Even when using a small camera, reliable and robust equipment is essential,” Mark Moreve states. “I knew straight away that I needed good camera support equipment for this shoot. The camera is very lightweight and I often have to use longer lenses such as a 400mm, so I needed a stable Sachtler tripod to prevent any jittering during the shoot. Even if you use a lighter lens and a camera not as heavy, you have to make sure that the camera can be panned and tilted without a problem in order to achieve smooth panning shots,” says Mark Moreve who has been working as a freelance cameraman for 14 years with many broadcast and corporate credits to his name. Wohler Technologies Inc. today unveiled its new CD-1 caption and subtitle video monitor adaptor. The innovative CD-1 decodes and renders captions or subtitles for any digital video monitor to display, as well as de-embedding audio, conveniently allowing the operator to confirm the presence and accuracy of critical video, audio, and caption data using existing or low-cost monitors that lack caption display capability.
