SDI Waveform Monitor with MCR functionality

SDI Waveform Monitor with MCR(Eye)functionality.The WFM 601i is capable of measuring and monitoring 4:2:2 component serial digital. It displays the video signal in the familiar component analog representation, either paraded or overlaid. An equivalent time sampler is incorporated to show the eye pattern of the serial signal. Data integrity is verified by the EDH (Error Detection and Handling) system, and by a suite of serial digital format checks.

Audio post production facility AudioVision has placed an order for a three-bay Fairlight Constellation XCS console. This will be installed into a custom-built frame that is currently being constructed by AudioVisions owner, Bill Trousdale.

Based in Orange County, AudioVision was established in 1989 by Trousdale who has more than 35 years experience in the pro audio industry. The facility is equipped to a very high specification, particularly in regards to acoustic isolation and overall sonic purity. All of its audio recording systems are Fairlight, which Trousdale chose because they offer the speed, stability and audio quality that his clients demand.

E-Motion, the Genoa-based production and post-production company, has purchased a Stereo3D-equipped Quantel Pablo 4K color correction system. The Pablo sits at the heart of its new stereoscopic 3D production and post production workflow based around RED Cameras, prime lenses and stereo rigs. The Pablo is also equipped with Quantels highly ergonomic Neo control panel. The deal was completed by Quantels Italian reseller, Mediacom Digital Evolution srl.

Junger Audio Unveils New TV Audio Processor

Dynamics processing specialist Jnger Audio will be unveiling a new TV Audio Processor at this year’s NAB Convention in Las Vegas (Booth SU7206). The device, which is primarily designed for TV playout facilities, will provide Loudness control, Upmix and surround sound processing for up to eight channels of audio.

 
Peter Prs, managing director of Jnger Audio, says: “This latest addition to our product range fulfils the quality requirements set by major broadcasters around the world. Maintaining loudness consistency is now a major issue for our industry and one that particularly affects playout facilities because they have absolutely no control over the broadcasted content’s average operating levels. Our new processor is designed to solve this problem for them in a very easy and cost effective way.”

Morocco turns to Riedel

The Moroccan public broadcast network 2M has installed a comprehensive Riedel Artist digital matrix intercom installation to replace its former system. The new system from the German manufacturer of intercom, fiber and radio technology integrates 16 regional 2M broadcast studios via IP into the communications infrastructure.
At the heart of the installation are two Riedel Artist 128 mainframes connected via a redundant dual fiber ring offering up to 1,024x1,024 non-blocking ports. The frames are equipped with redundant power supplies, AIO connections and VoIP client cards.

A total of 67 Artist 2000 series and 23 Artist 3000 series control panels are used at the studio in Casablanca and the 16 regional studios. 2M uses 17 Riedel Connect IP interfaces to integrate the remote control panels of the regional studios. The Connect IP units allow for matrix-to-matrix connections and matrix-to-control panel connections as well as for the distribution of audio lines over IP. The interface converts one AES3 stream into compressed IP data and vice versa, thus integrating the whole installation.

The Zeus III is the next generation of compact intercom system units, offering more options for intercom configurations; with 32 channels of I/O plus an additional two configurable party-line interface channels. Its compact size makes the Zeus III perfect for environments with limited space.
The Telex RadioCom BTR-80N Narrow Band wireless intercom system offers the most comprehensive, user friendly and versatile set of features available in wireless intercom systems anywhere in the world. These include remote belt pack battery status indicators, excellent audio quality, selectable tramsmitter power, AC or DC power and remote mic kill. Requiring only 25 kHz of modulated bandwidth, the BTR-80N Narrow Band system will allow more users per channel in a cramped UHF spectrum.
 
The KP 12 CLD is the latest addition to the revolutionary CLD color keypanel series by RTS. The keypanel includes several cutting-edge features designed to enhance capability and ease of use. The intuitive graphic interface is housed inside two full-color 4.2” LCD displays. Providing superior audio quality and volume from a compact 1 RU panel the KP12 CLD also features conveniences such as a user-programmable button, one-touch listen volume adjustment on each multifunction key and a backlit keypad. The KP12 CLD is VoIP capable when fitted with the new RVON 2 card.

Flexible, made-to-measure and even economical

State Theatre of Mecklenburg in Schwerin is one of the finest theatres in Germany. Since 1836, it has provided a stage for drama, ballet, opera, orchestral performances and even puppet shows. After closing in May 2009 to undergo an extensive renovation, the theatre reopened its doors at the beginning of November.
 
The first performances in the newly renovated theatre, the premiere of Yasmina Reza’s play Der Gott des Gemetzels and a concert by the Mecklenburg State Orchestra, on the 7th and 8th November respectively, were also the first under the guidance of the new stage management system. Designed and installed by the Hamburg-based system integrator Amptown System Company (ASC), the new system from TELEX/RTS satisfies the complex and diverse requirements of the Schwerin theatre. The nerve centre of the stage manager’s station is now a Cronus intercom matrix from RTS.

Rycote, the UK-based manufacturer of hi-tech microphone windshield and suspensions, is announcing a new product at the 2010 NAMM show in Anaheim, California — the InVision USM, an affordable universal mic suspension for large-diaphragm recording microphones. According to Rycote, the mic mount offers substantially more isolation from unwanted vibrations than that afforded by traditional elasticated 'cat's cradle' mic suspensions.
 
The InVision Universal Studio Mount (or USM) has been designed to provide a 21st-century alternative to elasticated suspensions, the basic form of which has remained essentially unchanged for several decades.

On the road with Riedel Performer Intercom

TF1, one of largest broadcast networks in France, equipped four DSNG vans with a Performer digital matrix intercom system from Riedel Communications. The project was realized by Apex – Riedel's partner for France, Belgium and Luxembourg.
The Performer 32 is a powerful and cost effective digital matrix intercom platform with a maximum capacity of up to 32x32 ports. It is especially tailored to the requirements of smaller broadcast applications, events or theatre installations. Based on a modular concept, the system adapts easily to different requirements of each user. Each of the DSNG vans utilises 24 matrix ports providing connection for control panels, analog and digital signals and GPI/Os. Artist 1000 series control panels complete the installation in all four vans providing broadcast quality digital audio and 8 character LED in-key displays. They offer excellent readability under all lighting conditions including direct sunlight. All four vehicles are already installed and in field operation.
