Montclair State University Purchases Solid State Logic C10 HD Digital Broadcast Console |

Montclair State University has purchased a 24-channel C10 HD Digital Broadcast Console for the recently upgraded DuMont Television Center. The C10 HD will complete the university’s move into a full HD production studio for advanced course work.
The DuMont Television Center’s HD suite is a place where students can work with the very latest in digital, high definition production equipment. The purchase of the SSL C10 HD console for the new control room, which is under construction, will complete the audio phase of the facility upgrade. With the introduction of the C10 HD at an attractive price point, the department can now install an SSL console to train students on the very latest audio engineering technology available. Beyond course work, the C10 HD will be used for campus projects and outside clients from the New Jersey and New York television production communities.

WREG provides news programming for Memphis and the Mid-South area of the U.S., along with weather, sports, business, politics, entertainment and health programs.
The C10 HD ‘5.1 Upmix’ feature gives WREG the capability of matching local stereo productions with network 5.1 feeds for seamless transitions between the two signals. WREG-TV also purchased the Production Automation option to integrate with their newsroom automation system. The C10 HD will help facilitate the station’s move into full HD broadcasting. |

Vast Increases SAN Storage |

Harris Corporation has introduced a 33-percent increase in storage capacity to its range of NEXIO® SAN (storage area network) storage arrays at the same price of its previously highest-capacity storage solution. This increase raises the total usable storage capacity to 96 TB, while maintaining full redundancy at the connectivity layer.
The improvement is achieved using new 600 GB drives — allowing customers to store up to 14,000 hours of MPEG-2 12 Mb/s or 3,600 hours of Sony® XDCAM® HD422 content in a single SAN. Harris is the first broadcast supplier to offer 600 GB drives in its storage arrays at the same price as its previous-generation 450 GB drives — significantly lowering the cost per terabyte for customers.
