Harris Corporation Continues to Win Saudi Television Contracts |

Harris Corporation has been awarded several additional contracts by the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Culture and Information (MOCI) for products spanning its high-definition (HD) portfolio.
Recent wins include the provision of equipment for eight new HD studios, three new portable HD studios, two new digital satellite news gathering/outside broadcast (DSNG/OB) vans and three new HD OB vans. These contract wins follow successful Harris high-definition equipment installations at seven Saudi TV studio control rooms in the cities of Qassim, Riyadh, Dammam, Medinah and Makhah in 2007 and 2008.

The Swiss Army certifies MillenniumHD for new film scanning suite |

The Swiss Army has installed a Cintel MillenniumHD film scanner and an imageMill GRACE image enhancer at its Electronic Media Centre in Bern. After extensive testing and evaluation of many film scanning solutions, the Swiss Army chose the MillenniumHD ‘data-cine’ film scanner fitted with 16mm and 35mm film gates, SD and HD video outputs and optical and magnetic sound options.
Film transfer expert Kathrin Schneider explained, “We looked at a number of film scanners but only MillenniumHD gave us the right combination of speed, image quality and flexibility. The internal colour correction is extremely powerful and, coupled with the imageMill GRACE film grain management solution, we are able to produce excellent High Definition transfers of our 16mm and 35mm material at real time in a single pass. Having a future upgrade path to 2K and 4K resolutions, at speeds up to 15fps was also very important to us.”
Simon Carter, Cintel’s Sales Director, commented, “The Swiss Army’s tests were quite exhaustive but we’re pleased to say that MillenniumHD was more than up for the job. We’re very honoured indeed to add such a prestigious organisation as the Swiss Army to the growing list of Millennium users.” |

New Products and New Features for the 2010 NAB Show: SprintCam Vvs HD — New Product I-MOVIX will launch SprintCam Vvs HD, a new ultra-slow-motion system for live HD broadcast production. Featuring the outstanding quality, performance and usability of SprintCam technology, SprintCam Vvs HD operates at frame rates from 25 to 2,500 fps (up to 100 times slower than the live action) and provides instant replay at native high-definition resolution and image quality. Two versions of the SprintCam Vvs HD are offered: a standard camera version, or optimised for shoulder-mounted portable shooting, providing an unprecedented level of convenience and creativity in ultra-slow-motion action. The SprintCam Vvs HD system comprises: the latest generation of high-speed HD camera; an operational control panel providing real broadcast quality color matrix and control of frame rate choice; a slow motion remote allowing the user to select a video sequence and instantly replay it with an HD-SDI output for live broadcast or storage on any SDI recorder for a later use; and the camera control unit, providing control of the slow-motion instant replay, camera control, and data interface between camera, EVS server, or SDI recorder. SprintCam V3 HD — New Features I-MOVIX will show a new version of the SprintCam V3 HD, with enhanced functionality including image capture at frame rates of between 150 to 2,000 fps (6 - 80 times slower than live action) and instant replay in high definition (1080i resolution). Fujinon high definition lenses, as offered by exclusive UK/Ireland distributor Pyser-SGI Limited, played a major role in the production of the newly released Golden Globe winning 3D epic feature film AVATAR.
The Fujinon lenses were specially chosen by director James Cameron – himself a recipient of the Golden Globe Best Director award for the film in Los Angeles, January – in conjunction with Vince Pace, co-inventor of the Fusion 3D camera system used on the film and founder of Pace Technologies.
