VC's TM-H1750CG redefines the high-specification monitor for broadcasting studios and editing/special effects suites. Technically, it's uncompromising. Featuring a full-square CRT and a trio-dot pitch of 0.27 mm, the NTSC/PAL compatible TM-H1750CG delivers 750 lines of horizontal resolution and sharp, accurately rendered pictures. Yet, despite its big 17-inch (16-inch viewable) screen, it comes in an ultra compact cabinet that takes up little space. Intuitive on-screen menu programming means settings ranging from aspect-ratio to Blue Check can be changed in seconds. The TM-H1750CG also has all the input and output terminals needed for today's professional applications, and it features a slot port for optional component or SDI cards. The VB262 combined with the VB220 controller is perfect for hybrid networks where IP is a carrier from the head-end to the regional edge-multiplexer/modulator/transmitter, making it possible to monitor the total broadcast contents of a cable transmission system using a single VB262. British cameraman Mark Moreve shot the entire 90-minute feature film ‘Love Loss’ with the compact Canon EOS 5D Mk II DSLR camera and the fluid head Video 18 SB from Sachtler, a brand of the Vitec Group.
“Even when using a small camera, reliable and robust equipment is essential,” Mark Moreve states. “I knew straight away that I needed good camera support equipment for this shoot. The camera is very lightweight and I often have to use longer lenses such as a 400mm, so I needed a stable Sachtler tripod to prevent any jittering during the shoot. Even if you use a lighter lens and a camera not as heavy, you have to make sure that the camera can be panned and tilted without a problem in order to achieve smooth panning shots,” says Mark Moreve who has been working as a freelance cameraman for 14 years with many broadcast and corporate credits to his name.

Wohler Unveils Versatile New CD-1 Caption Video Monitor Adaptor

Wohler Technologies Inc. today unveiled its new CD-1 caption and subtitle video monitor adaptor. The innovative CD-1 decodes and renders captions or subtitles for any digital video monitor to display, as well as de-embedding audio, conveniently allowing the operator to confirm the presence and accuracy of critical video, audio, and caption data using existing or low-cost monitors that lack caption display capability. 

"As a compact and exceptionally simple solution for handling caption inputs and outputs, the CD-1 brings unique versatility to monitoring of the SDI stream across a broadcast plant or production facility," said Kim Templeman-Holmes, vice president of global sales and marketing at Wohler. This premium solution for professional applications provides an easy method of creating high definition imagery spread across four displays stacked in a 2x2 configuration. A rugged metallic enclosure makes it ideally suited for applications like rental and staging as well as static digital signage presentations.
 
The Video Wall Controller outputs high definition video up to 1080p full HD from a single PC or video source using DVI connectivity. When combined with computer applications, resolutions are supported up to 1920x1200. One DVI input is split to four DVI outputs connected to four hi-def displays. Video can be spread across all four displays or just three, two or one display, giving users additional control over the creative content.
