Newsroom system and “QStore” server provide a perfect solution for the University of Lincoln

ERTT ADOPTS FOR-A VIRTUAL STUDIO |

FOR-A UK has supplied its digiStorm virtual studio technology and multiviewers to Thomson for installation at the Tunisian national broadcaster, ERTT in Tunis. As a part of a turnkey project by Thomson Grass Valley France SA, the virtual studio has been integrated with a Thomson vision mixer and Shotoku camera position sensors.
This digiStorm virtual studio system was configured to meet ERTT’s requirements that included working with the studio’s four cameras, and their associated motion sensors, using a dual-channel virtual set processor and two workstations to provide both programme and preview video of the virtual set for any two of the four cameras at one time. The two workstations run Brainstorm Multimedia’s eStudio 3D Graphics software, making a full ‘eStudio': one creation-and-play workstation and one play-only station. CBS Sports Uses FOR-A FRC-7000 FRAME RATE CONVERTERS |

Through the cooperation of CBS Sports and London-based CTV Outside Broadcasts, the Oct. 25 off-shore matchup between the National Football League’s New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers was broadcast from London’s Wembley Stadium. A key piece of equipment, the FOR-A FRC-7000 HD frame rate converter, was supplied by London-based rental company Galaxy Light & Power LLC.
From football to ice hockey, the challenge in broadcasting sports is that there are a lot of objects moving quickly in different directions at the same time. “The FOR-A FRC-7000 handles fast moving objects far better than other converters I have used,” said Andy Grant, Chief Executive and Senior Engineer at Galaxy Light & Power. “You have more control over it in terms of optimizing settings for each kind of material. We found settings that will give a virtually transparent conversion for American football.”
Galaxy Light & Power worked independently with the NFL to provide an additional converter for instant replay feeds, and the outside broadcast facilities provider, CTV, wanted two additional converters to provide local news feeds within the United States and backup feeds. There were a total of five frame rate converters on site, all of them Galaxy’s FOR-A FRC-7000s.
According to Grant, the technical team at CBS was very pleased with the high quality of the conversion. “FOR-A converters are their first choice for this kind of work,” he said. “This is the second year we’ve done it. CBS was impressed with the work we did last year, hence we’ve been asked to do it this year. I like working with the FOR-A FRC-7000 because it is reliable and produces a consistently high quality conversion.”

iTX to Launch New Channels |

OmniBus Systems, the award-winning provider of comprehensive broadcast automation, content management and workflow solutions, today announced that Romania's Vox News TV has installed OmniBus iTX to power the launch of two channels from its new studio facility in Bucharest. The new channels will be broadcast in SD with a mixture of news, sports and entertainment programming, and the launch was timed to coincide with the second round of the country's presidential elections in December.
Vox News TV is the country's latest broadcaster and is the third news channel in Romania.
