Softel at 2010 NAB

Posted: 25/02/2010
At the 2010 NAB Show, Softel will showcase a new subtitling and captioning solution that allows broadcasters to manage caption/subtitle binding in the workflow.
Binding Stages
Subtitles and captions can be ingested or bound at different times in the lifecycle of the content:

- Early binding: The pre-prepared file is matched to the content well ahead of transmission.

- Late binding: Occurs closer to air time and is only possible thanks to faster-than-real time encoding techniques.

- Live binding: For either truly live content like sports and news, or for time-of-air binding of subtitle and caption data/files.

Reliably and efficiently binding subtitles and captions to the content at the correct time is an issue in complex modern workflows. The Softel Swift™ TX subtitle and caption playout and management platform combines with Softel Swift vTX™, caption and subtitle encoding software, to provide a master subtitle and caption control centre that seamlessly integrates in the workflow to automate binding. This combined solution includes ScheduleSmart™, a complex-algorithm based system, that efficiently and dynamically manages the binding of ancillary data whether early, late or live.

Posted: 29/01/2010
The new Hague Twin Shoulder Support is an alternative support to a tripod when steady shots are required. It may not always be convenient to use a tripod, as there may not be enough time to set one up or you may be constantly moving to a new position. This is when the Twin Shoulder Support is essential. It's ideal for weddings, interviews, corporate work, etc.

CHRISTIE HD18Ks PROJECT UKs BIGGEST DISPLAY EVER AT O2 ARENA

QED FIELDS 410 SQ. METRE SCREEN FOR BOOTCAMP EVENT

Pioneering AV company QED Productions found they were able to set several technical milestones when the 2009 Entrepreneurs Bootcamp came to Londons O2 Arena.

The brief from event producers, Smyle Creative, was to provide the biggest projection display ever seen at the 15,000-capacity venue, and AV specialists QED duly obliged, filling the massive 34.5m wide by 11.9m high Harkness Hall projection canvas by deploying six state-of-the-art Christie Roadster HD18K projectors flown off a 25-metre high truss, high above the audience, via their own fast-fit custom-designed rigging system.
