STARTER SERIES NOW WITH IPAD PROMPTER AND MAC SOFTWARE |

Autocue are developing an iPad prompter, to sit within its entry-level range, alongside the award-winning iPhone prompter. NAB will also see the release of Mac OS prompting software.
Like the iPhone prompter, the iPad will be teamed with Autocue’s existing Starter Series hardware to create an on-camera teleprompter. The product is designed for use with the prompting apps available from Apple.
Customers can simply select QStart Mac or PC (Windows 7 compatible) to be included with any their Starter Series prompting package. QStart Mac will also be available to buy as standalone prompting software for any Mac users who want to team it with Professional or Master Series hardware.
The Starter Series is aimed at small production and AV companies, and education, corporate and government institutions. It is available in a range of monitor sizes (7” to 17”) or as a conference system. All systems include PC or Mac software and are available for next day delivery. Tiffen International reported a very successful BVE 2010 show, with a constant flow of interested video professionals visiting the stand. A new range of lighting products and DSLR video proved to be of particular interest.
Lowel Lighting, a new Tiffen product range at BVE, attracted visitors’ attention. Among the many lights on the stand, it was the brand new Lowel Blender that received special notice. Its light source comprises twin arrays of high CRI (Colour Rendering Index) LEDs to produce light that allows crisp and more naturally coloured pictures. Two rotary controls on the back of the lamphead provide continuous individual adjustment of the daylight and tungsten LED array intensities. The light blends to deliver the right colour to make shots look naturally lit. Newsroom system and “QStore” server provide a perfect solution for the University of Lincoln
Autocue, the leading provider of integrated newsroom automation and teleprompting solutions, has completed the installation of its QSmart newsroom computer system (NRCS) and QStore audio/video server as part of a program to further develop the award-winning journalism facilities at the University of Lincoln. Steadicam DSLR Hands-on
The combination of Steadicam and DSLR video enables shooting smooth handheld ‘walkabout’ HD material with the economy, small size and light weight of a go-anywhere DSLR rig. Two Steadicam models cover the needs according to the weight of the rig. The Merlin arm supports up to 2.3 kg – and up to 3.4 kg when used with a vest. PROKIT hosts LED Lighting Day |

PROKIT has hosted an Open Day for broadcast, film and video LED Lighting, the first of its kind in the UK. It took place in Prokits Chiswick showroom on Thursday 15th. October 2009. Manufacturers taking part included ARRI, Bebob, Dedo, Element Labs, Litepanels, Lowel and PAG. Visitors were able to see a range of state of the art products from each manufacturer, and make side by side comparisons. Members of the STLD, BSC and GTC attended, as well as two dozen practitioners from the broadcast and video worlds. Mark Holmes, Business Development Director, said, LED lighting has now come of age in our industry.
