The system is setup and ready to be used once it arrives, we will also try and leave some video on the machine for test purposes for you also.
DETAILS
We are selling a professional broadcast TAPELESS
hard disk based video server with 4
separate DDR (Digital disk recorder) (VTR) channels
which can operate the same time
the system is made by Tektronix / grass valley
and is setup for PAL video currently (can be changed)
These systems are compared to similar systems
but these are considered better for some applications due to there ease
of use with the software and high quality recording and better software for the
system to be used in studio environments also.
These systems ere used worldwide in studios for
playing out live to transmission, in TV studios and setup for automation
playing out (louth automation and odetics included) or recording
(including automation of sending the recorded files over the fibre option
network automatically), in outside broadcast trucks for replays,
used for editing video clips (eg. For half time highlights package / playlists
etc) and especially for slo motion replays as slo mo playback can
be slowed to frame by frame or as slow as 0.05x speed (whether normal slo mo or
slo mo playback of super slo mo 75 frame a second cameras, the system can
record any SDI input, for super slo mo 75 frame a second cameras, you may need
extra software
These systems have built in hard disks (upgradeable) so you
never have to worry about tape heads, clogged tapes etc. You can run these
systems all day without any fuss. For the hard drives, you
can also add extra drives with disk arrays or raid arrays to the 68pin scsi
external connectors (while still using the internal disks) or you can use
storage from the Ethernet / fibre optic networks (eg. Share video either
sending or receibing video through these networks. Fibreoptic is best as think
is 1000mb/s transfer rate.
This system is made by Tektronix (grass valley) and is
model PDR200 (PDR204D)
The system has 4 built in DDR channels which in effect is
like 4 VTRs but instead of using tapes, you record onto hard disks.
The advantage also is that you can have instant access to your recorded
material and can share it and play it back through the other DDR channels
instantly (whether through 1 or several channels) you can also send the
video through the etherne t/ firbeo optic networks should you want or do
editing on the clips with this server etc.
As the system has 4 dedicated DDR channels, the system is
ideal for multiple uses.
Examples
of setup are below. (you don’t need to use all channels if you don’t want
to)
note., you can also setup the channels for loop record or loop playback,, loop record is ideal when using system for replays etc as the system will always record, when video capacity is full, it will then re record over the first bit of video recorded etc.
Playing out video with between 1- 4 of the
DDR channels (eg. Playing out to live transmission) so you can playout 4 TV
channels if you wanted or play out 2 and then play out the same one with time
delay on them also. You can play out the same video clip through all 4
channels without the original video clip being altered in anyway
Record in 1 channel, playout with 1-3 channels (eg.
Record your mixer output, use 1 playback channel for slo motion replys, another
playback channel for editing etc) The video being recorded will NOT be affected
even though you are playing it out through other channels
Record 2 channels and playback 2 channels.This is the most popular setup for OB trucks etc. (record 2 inputs (eg. Mixer output or
cameras) and then play back the material which is being recorded and palyback
for slo mo replays etc or do editing. NOTE:-
the original material which is being recorded is NOT changed in anyway even
though you are playing it back through another channel
Record 3 channels and playback 1 channel
Record 4 channel all at the same time (eg. for camera
recording) (video can be edited / archieved or played back
later)
Record 1x 75 frame a second slo motion camera and
playback it from this server. As is 75frams a second, this will take up 3
record channels like other systems setups do also. (This is why these systems
are great for super slo mo as is a cost effective way of doing it
All video material recorded is stored permanently onto the
hard disks for instant access for replays, editing the video clips or can
be used anytime later etc. You may choose to loop record for live playout
with timedelay etc
Instant forwards or rewind for all video, slo mo, instant
point to anywhere in video etc.
you can change the record / playback channels while system
is being used including video in / out, audio in / out etc etc.
NOTE:- you can change the configuration and
setup of the system even when it is recording, (eg. Start new DDR channels etc_
this is why these systems are popular as you can config the system and changes
its use when it is still recording etc.

Upto
10,000 video clip capacity management can be used with the server
meaning it is perfect for studio use etc for playing out to live
transmission etc.
Built
in 6 or 12 hours approx video storage with audio and timecode. (can be
increased, see above). We will include at minimum 6 hour internal video
storage , possibly 12 hours as we may have some spare bigger drives to
upgrade the system with.
Slo
motion playback from 0.05x speed forwards or backwards. Shuttle mode for
fast video search or direct point to anywhere in video if you want also.

digi-beta quality. The compression rate for recording is user
selectable incase you want to maximise record time or maximise quality
etc.
Record
channels can be set on duration of record, loop recod etc, playback
can be loop playback also etc.

DDR channels lets you record 4 different SDI inputs / play out 4 SDI
channels or do a mixture of both ALL at the same time
(eg record 4 camera channels at the same time on this system)

SDI digital component 270mb/s video inputs (BNC) and 4 SDI digital
component soutputs also (BNC).
SDI
monitoring of each record channel when recording (as outputs are on
separate BNC connectors) you can monitor the record channel through the
SDI outputs also.
Upto
16 channel of uncompressed audio for each video signal . Audio into / out
from server can be embedded (4 channel) in the video signal, AES via XLR
or bnc (no video) or analog XLR (you may need option breakout
box)
Option
to use 4 channels of embedded audio in the video input or output signal
Can
be used as an automated playout centre with option of automation
handling of video files or manual handlings of video files
Can
be used with time delay software (optional) which is great for
playing out with a time delay (eg. Big brother with 15 min delay or +1
hour TV channels etc) You can also use the built in control panels to

Everything
is changeable by click of button when system is running and recording,
doing replays or playback etc. You can change video, audio etc while
system is running etc.. once system is loaded up, that’s it, everything is
changeable anytime you want.

control panel in the software can be controlled with the built in software
or by external remotes / automation, (eg. Louth automation, odetics
control, BVW remotes (operate system like a sony BVW
type remote panel) , Ash vale remotes, DNF, sony tek etc or any
other DDR compatible remote etc)
