Tolo TV, the award-winning Afghan commercial television network, has upgraded its Broadcast Traffic Systems (BTS) traffic management installation. New software and additional modules have been added to the system installed during 2006 at Tolo's headquarters in Kabul. "We selected BTS traffic management software at IBC2006 after comparing the various available interstitial-management applications," comments Tolo TV CEO Jahid Mohseni. "We were impressed by the look and feel of the browser-based user interface though which Enterprise is controlled. Other key factors in our choice were the option of remote implementation, online training and post-installation support. These allowed our staff to experience working with the system before making it a primary part of our day-to-day workflow. First Studer Vista Off The New UK Production Line |

Soundcraft Studer’s production strategy; to converge both brands production in the Potters Bar facility, passed a significant milestone this week. With UK production now in full swing, the first Studer Vista large-format consoles were completed and went through test procedures with flying colours. Formerly Vista, OnAir 3000 and Router production was done in the Studer Regensdorf facility near Zurich in Switzerland. Speaking from the Potters Bar production floor, Soundcraft Studer President Andy Trott reflected, “Over the past few months our staff here and in Switzerland have worked incredibly hard to transfer the knowledge, logistics and skills to the UK team, and so to see our flagship product come through its rigorous tests so smoothly today is a great testament to the quality of our people on both sites. Production To The Next Level With Studer OnAir 3000 Consoles |

Radio Television Nacional de Colombia (RTVC) recently installed four Studer OnAir 3000 consoles. The facility has two radio stations: Radio Nacional de Colombia and Radionica, each having one OnAir 3000 console to broadcast their main signal. Radio Nacional has traditional programs with news and music, while Radionica adheres to a music-only format with more contemporary musical styles. Both stations operate without commercial programming, allowing for a diversity of content on each station. Another of the OnAir 3000 consoles is installed in a production studio, where internal material is recorded for both Radio Nacional and Radionica, while the fourth OnAir 3000 serves as a backup console and main router of the system, broadcasting the two radio stations through this console, which connects all the studios together. Along with this fourth OnAir 3000 are two editing modules where journalists can record interviews and other short reports for news programming. In this booth, journalists have access to signals that belong to the other OnAir 3000 consoles, allowing them to control each console independently and, if they so desire, simultaneously. Lawo is pleased to announce that Toronto’s CHUM-FM 104.5 and CP24 Radio 1050, the region’s leading broadcaster, has taken delivery of a Nova73 HD router, a Nova 17 router, a zirkon radio console, and thirteen crystal radio consoles. Installation was completed in October 2009.
Part of a dramatic revitalization of the station’s facilities, the new Lawo equipment has significantly enhanced CHUM radio’s operating efficiencies. RTW HELPS CANADIAN BROADCASTER KEEP ITS AUDIO LEVELS IN CHECK |

RTW, a leading manufacturer and distributor of professional audio metering and control devices, is proud to announce that Sonotechnique, a longtime RTW dealer in Canada, sold eight SurroundMonitor 10809X-PLUS and one SurroundControl 31900 systems to a major Canadian broadcaster. The equipment is being used to broadcast the 2010 Winter Games in Canada, which are being held February 12 – 28.
The RTW equipment was first built and tested in Toronto, then dismantled and shipped last month to the television station in Vancouver. The eight SurroundMonitor 10809X-PLUS systems were installed in the facility’s eight post-production suites and are scheduled for use on post-production work. The 31900 was installed in the facility’s quality control, which is serving as the final stop for audio mixing before the athletic coverage is broadcast out to viewers.
