Robotic Camera Control at regional BBC |
Posted: 16/03/2010 |
|
BBC Cambridge, a regional studio of the world-renowned broadcaster, has recently taken delivery of a Shotoku Broadcast 3-channel robotically controlled camera system. James Eddershaw, sales director for the camera support manufacturer made the announcement from Shotoku’s European headquarters located in Staines, UK.
System Integrators, Dega Broadcast Systems, were responsible for the technical design, installation and commissioning of the TV facilities. Shotoku worked closely with Dega on the specification and configuration of the camera robotics.
David Addey from Dega commented, “The equipment was easy to understand and install and was very efficiently commissioned on site by Shotoku, who also provided training for the operators.”
Shotoku systems can also be found at other BBC locations including London, Glasgow and Cardiff.
The system is comprised of two TG-18 and one TG-27 pan/tilt heads for exceptionally smooth and accurate performance at all speeds and shooting angles. Control is achieved by an external interface for production automation, and Shotoku’s TR-8T touch control panel. The configuration will support the daily production schedule of regional news and current affairs programs. |

FOR-A UK has supplied its digiStorm virtual studio technology and multiviewers to Thomson for installation at the Tunisian national broadcaster, ERTT in Tunis. Posted: 25/02/2010 |
|
Shepperton-based Camera Corps, a global leader in robotic camera control systems, has chosen the 2010 NAB Show in Las Vegas for the worldwide launch of its new ultra-compact Mini Joystick Control. Mini Joystick Control is compatible with all Camera Corps and Egripment pan and tilt heads, including the award-winning Camera Corps Q-Ball. "Mini Joystick Control was developed for applications such as commentator-camera control or for outside-broadcast vehicles where desk space is often very restricted," comments Camera Corps' founder and Managing Director Laurie Frost. "It is extremely easy to use and ideal for fast-response on-air operation. The joystick and control buttons have the same tactile responsiveness as those on our full-size controller, including fully adjustable pan, tilt and zoom speeds and reverses. Zoom is controlled by rotary twist of the joystick. Up to five separate heads can be operated from a single panel. Reverse settings and control speeds for each of the five channels can be stored in non-volatile internal memory." Click to view Full text |
