Digital Vision has broken new ground in Europe by announcing that its stereoscopic toolset is being used to grade the UK’s first 3D feature film StreetDance. German post production facility, Post Republic will begin grading the full length feature this month using Film Master 2009. The trailer and teaser have already been graded at the facility using the latest Film Master update and have been distributed worldwide.
Set in London and featuring some of Britain's top dance talent, the film tells the story of a street dance crew who, in a bid to win the UK Street Dance Championships are forced to team up with a group of classical dancers. Digital TV Labs, which provides independent, specialised conformance products and services for DVB-based markets, has become the first test facility to receive a licence to offer the full Digital TV Group (DTG) Test Suite, providing manufacturers with a cost-effective pre-DTG test and debugging process.
Digital TV Labs is now in the unique position of being able to offer the full terrestrial test suite for UK and NZ markets for pre-testing from its offices in the UK and Hong Kong. 3D Stereo Rigs rewrite History |

Altogether two Freestyle Rigs and four Standard Rigs from P+S TECHNIK have been applied during the very first football 3D-HD-Live-Production in Germany
After successful trials of the necessary equipment on 23rd February during the UEFA Champions League game VFB Stuttgart – FC Barcelona Munich has been the showcase location of the first football 3D-HD-Live-Production in Germany that has taken place on Sunday 14th of March 2010.
Not less than 120 selected guests were shown the top game between Bayer Leverkusen and Hamburger SV (HSV) live and in 3D-HD in Munich on behalf of Sky Germany. Altogether six 3D Stereo Rigs from P+S TECHNIK have been applied in Leverkusen: Four Heavy Duty Standard Rigs and two Freestyle Rigs mounted on Steadicams. Satisfied faces could be seen after the final whistle when the audience took off its 3D glasses. Franz Beckenbauer is reported to have said: „The pictures I have seen here today are fantastic. In my age I already have participated in many TV developments and I am sure that with 3D HD we are at the dawn of a new era in TV technology.”

Robotic Camera Control at regional BBC |

BBC Cambridge, a regional studio of the world-renowned broadcaster, has recently taken delivery of a Shotoku Broadcast 3-channel robotically controlled camera system. James Eddershaw, sales director for the camera support manufacturer made the announcement from Shotoku’s European headquarters located in Staines, UK.
System Integrators, Dega Broadcast Systems, were responsible for the technical design, installation and commissioning of the TV facilities. Shotoku worked closely with Dega on the specification and configuration of the camera robotics.
David Addey from Dega commented, “The equipment was easy to understand and install and was very efficiently commissioned on site by Shotoku, who also provided training for the operators.”
Shotoku systems can also be found at other BBC locations including London, Glasgow and Cardiff.
The system is comprised of two TG-18 and one TG-27 pan/tilt heads for exceptionally smooth and accurate performance at all speeds and shooting angles. Control is achieved by an external interface for production automation, and Shotoku’s TR-8T touch control panel. The configuration will support the daily production schedule of regional news and current affairs programs. |
