The system is especially user-friendly due to the fact that it can be assembled and dismantled in just 20 minutes without any mechanical handling. This new development is appropriate for all modern Sachtler tripod heads. THOMA is developing the system further, so that in the future, Vinten heads will be compatible, as well.

Jigsaw Systems acquires the new 3DRigs.com agency for the UK

Jigsaw Systems, experts in pro video, pro audio, stereoscopic 3D and NLE, have announced that they recently acquired the new 3DRigs.com agency for the UK.

3DRigs.com (based in South Africa) and Jigsaw Systems launched the world-class 3D Pro Ultra Rig at this year's Broadcast Video Expo (BVE).


The 3D Pro Ultra Rig uses an onboard computer, coupled with Pro Rig software to calculate the correct interaxial and convergence settings – whether shooting stereoscopic 3D films using 35mm film, advanced digital cinema cameras or HD video cameras. The 3D Pro Ultra Rig also uses advanced motion control technology and robust hybrid stepper motors to set the cameras to their correct positions for optimum accuracy during operation. The onboard computer can be conveniently detached from the rig, allowing the computer to become a hand-held device.

The rig will soon be available with a wireless interface and joystick control to give outside broadcast units full on-the-fly 3D rig management for live action shoots.
